Full morocco in the style of the period with gilt-stamped cover fillets, gilt-stamped spine label, rich vegetal spine gilt, gilt turn-ins and floral gilt inner edges, gilt edges on three sides, and marbled endpapers.

Audebert teilt die beschriebenen Primaten taxonomisch in sechs Familien ein, die er wiederum in die eigentlichen Affen (Singes), Makis (Lemuren und Loriartige) und Fluggleiter (Galéopitheques) unterteilt. - Dargestellt sind Orang-Utan, Schimpanse, Gibon, Makake, Rhesusäffchen, Mandrill, Kleideraffe, Nasenaffe, Meerkatze, Brüllaffe, Rotgesichtklammeraffe, Kapuzineräffchen, Totenkopfäffchen, Saki, Seidenaffe, Büschelaffe, Tamarin, Mungo, Lori, Galago u. v. m. Die beiden Schwarzweiß-Tafeln zeigen anatomische Details.3 Textblätter mit alt repar. Einriss, davon einer länger, wenige Textbll. mit kl. Einriss im unbeschnittenen Rand. Audebert taxonomically divides the described primates into six families, which he in turn subdivides into the true monkeys (Singes), makis (lemurs and loris) and flying lemurs (Galéopithèques). - Depicted are orangutan, chimpanzee, gibbon, macaque, rhesus monkey, mandrill, colobus monkey, proboscis monkey, guenon, howler monkey, red-faced spider monkey, capuchin monkey, squirrel monkey, saki, marmoset, tufted marmoset, tamarin, mongoose lemur, loris, galago, and many more. The two black-and-white plates show anatomical details. 3 text leaves with old repaired tear, one of them longer, a few text leaves with small tear in the untrimmed margin. Partly light to moderate foxing, a few faint fingermarks.
