Original full dark blue calf, lettering to spine in black. Frontispiece and 38 black and white full page original etchings, all printed on W. S. Hodgkinson watermarked 192 gsm paper, signed by Hockney on the limitation leaf. Together with a full dark blue calf folder housing 6 loose original etchings on W. S. Hodgkinson watermarked 298 gsm paper, each signed by Hockney, each sheet 45.1 x 31 cm. All contained in a dark blue calf slip case. Slipcase rubbed to edges with light indentations to front cover, otherwise a bright near fine copy. ¶ First edition, first impression, edition C. The titles of the six signed loose etchings are: The Lake; The Older Rupunzel; Home; The Bell Tower; Corpses on Fire; The Princess After Many Years in the Glass Mountain. The book was printed in four editions of 100, A,B,C & D. Each volume was accompanied by a different set of 6 loose signed etchings. A portfolio edition was also published in an edition of 100 containing all 39 etchings signed. The etchings were drawn on copper plates between May and November, 1969, and printed by Piet Clement, Amsterdam.
