First edition. Poetry collection featuring (cautious) typographic experimentation. Van Ostaijen’s Dadaist experiment in *Bezette Stad* clearly influenced Seuphor. It includes a remarkable illustration by Robert Delaunay—a result of Seuphor’s stays in Paris and the network he cultivated there. Seuphor—the pseudonym of Fernand Berckelaers (1901–1999), a poet, author, painter, and editor—moved in avant-garde circles and founded the literary magazine *Het Overzicht* in Antwerp in 1921. He collaborated with artists such as Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg and, together with figures including Joaquín Torres-García, founded the artist group *Cercle et Carré*, which also counted Wassily Kandinsky and Le Corbusier among its members.
