One of 30 numbered copies of the deluxe edition on "Japon Impérial" paper. Adolphe Jullien (1845–1932), the prominent French writer on music, was an ardent champion of Berlioz and Wagner; his "biographies of musicians are based on meticulously gathered material" (MGG). The original lithographs by his friend Fantin-Latour are noteworthy. A beautiful, spotless copy in a remarkable master binding by Pagnant, featuring historicizing gilt decoration. - MGG VII 381f.
