One leaf with a tiny closed tear to blank outer margin and some leaves with a single hole to the blank outer margin. Light pencil-underlinings and -markings to a few leaves. Internally clean and fresh. Printed on very heavy paper (about three times the thickness of the normal paper) and with wide margins. XX, (2), 296, (2, -errata) pp. Housed in a beautiful marbled half calf box in pastiche-style, with splendidly gilt spine and gilt morrocco title-label.

8vo. Comtemporary - possibly the original! - beige cardboard-binding with contemporary handwritten paper title-label to spine. Spine relaid, preserving the paper-label, with front hinge neatly reastored, perfectly matching the original paper. Smaller, hardly noticeable, restorations to back hinge and upper capital. All edges coloured in red. Front free end-paper with restorations to upper outer corner. Library-stamp (Stadt-Bibliothek Homburg) to recto and verso of title-page as well as blank part of f. a2r, all with deaccession-stamps over. Internally exceptionally nice, clean, and fresh, with hardly any spotting of any kind. Overall an excellent copy. (24), 856 pp.

4to. 18th century full calf with double gilt line-borders to boards and five raised bands to richly gilt spine. Neatly rebacked with 90% of the old spine preserved. Corners very neatly restored. Old owner's inscription (Madrolle) to inside of front board, dated 1840, a small Jesuit stamp to front free end-paper and verso of title-page, and a stamp to blank outer margin of title-page (École Sainte Geneviève). Neat note about the author, in French ("one of the greatest men of his century and one of the founders of astronomy"...), to title-page by previous owner Madrolle. All leaves ruled around the text. A very nice copy with some even browning of some leaves and occasional very light dampstaining or brownspotting. F.*3 with a very neatly closed tear (16), 159, (1); 342 + (8), 44 pp. Woodcut title-vignette, woodcut initials, and numerous woodcut diagrams and illustrations in the text as well as many tables.

Plates numbered as thus: 1-5 + 2b (i.e. 6 plates - depiting the microscope), I-XXX + A-E (i.e. 35 - details of floral structure and pollens), Anhang 1-10 (i.e. 10 - mainly insects). The plates are engraved by (and coloured by/under the auspices of) Christoph Keller after drawings by Gleichen-Russworm. With several beautiful, large engraved vignettes (by Johann Michael Stock, efter Keller).

4to (210 x 147 mm). In a very nice late 19th-century full sprinkled calf binding executed by Francis Bedford (signed in lower margin of verso of front board). Six raised bands and gilt lettering and ornamentation to spine. Double ruled fillets to recto and verso of borders of boards. Single gilt line decoration to edges of boards. All edges gilt. Old bookseller description and gilt ex-libris (Henry Huth (1815–1878), English banker and prominent bibliophile) pasted on to pasted down front end-paper. A few annotations in pencil to pasted down front end-papers. A few early marginal annotations and underlingnings. Initials in contemporary hand-colouring. 32 lines to a page. Washed. 19 ff. (a8- b-35). Wanting the final blank (c6). This is one of the few books which contains the brothers' joint colophon "ICH". Housed in a cloth clam-shell box.

Boards with gilt and blindstamped lines and gilt fleurons to corners. Edges and inside of boards with gilt and blindstamped lines. All edges gilt. Kept in a marbled slipcase. Slight wear to capitals and outer hinges. Armorial exlibris pasted to inside of front board. Woodcut title page remargined. Several underlinings and interlinear and marginal annotations in at least two different contemporary (or near-contemporary) hands. A6 and colophon leaf mounted (no loss). Four insignificant wormholes in lower margin, not affecting the text, from B1 through E2. A few scattered brownspots, otherwise a clean copy. Text of varying length surrounded by 72 lines of commentary. With all 214 woodcut illustrations as well as numerous woodcut initials. 449 leaves: A6 B-S8 (H +1) T-V10 x-z8 AA-HH8 II6 KK-VV8 XX6 YY-ZZ8 a-f8 aa-cc8 dd10.

4to (204 x 141 mm). In 19th-century half vellum over marbled paper covered boards. Old paper-label stating "Bernadus" pasted on to lower part of spine. Light wear to extremities, spine slightly discoloured and boards with a few scratches. First 6 ff. reinforced by fragments of a 13th-century manuscript on vellum. Ex-libris pasted on to back free end-paper. Title woodcut illustration depicting the Annunciation (belongs to a quarto series of 68 blocks by the "Second Gouda Woodcutter", specifically to the 44 blocks copied from Israhel van Meckenem’s smallest Passion series. The present impression is the sixth - see Bibliothek Otto Schäfer, vol. 1, p. 165). Title-page slightly soiled. Lower margin of title-page with annotation in contemporary calligraphed hand "Liber monasterij bemensis premonstratensium ordinis huesden" (see below). Lower blank margins throughout carefully washed and pressed. Housed in a green slipcase. 30 ff. Lex 8vo. Uncut and unopened in the original printed wrappers. A stain to the front wrapper, from the removal of a bookplate on verso, which has also removed some of the advertisement-print to the top of the inside of front wrapper. Apart from this removed book plate the only real flaw that the copy has is a vertical break down the middle of the spine, from opening the block. Otherwise there is just minimal edgewear and slight brownspotting to the title-page. Inscribed by Heidegger "Vom Verfasser/ M.H." to top of title-page. (8), 245 pp.
