403) Horae Verard Horae secundum usum Romanum, printed on parchment and illuminated, Paris, Antoine Verard, 1510. Volume in 8°, folio dimensions 150 x 100 mm, text 108 x 60 mm, text in Gothic "batarde" in a single column of 22 lines. Composed of 125 printed folios and one blank folio. The volume is complete, but due to a typographical error, folio 90 was not printed and is blank, thus missing an illuminated woodcut (metalcut) depicting the Crucifixion . A Crucifixion from other Verard Book of Hours is added. At the beginning of the volume, there are six folios on paper and two on parchment with prayers in French written in a later hand. At the end, there are also three folios on parchment with prayers followed by six blank folios on paper. Collation: i6; ii12; iii-xi8; xii4; xii-xvi8. The decoration includes 18 large illuminated woodcuts (of 19) and 29 smaller ones. Eleven pages (corresponding to the large figures) feature a phytomorphic border in color and gold. The binding is slightly later, in leather with gold decorations, and has been restored. Good condition, the colophon is scratched but legible, and the margins are light trimmed on the illuminated borders. Bibliography: Lacombe 201. Provenance: An anonymous collector or bookseller wrote on the back flyleaf: St. Florentin, 9 septembre 1854, ce manuscrit (sic) contient 50 miniatures
