Several old owner’s signatures on first title page, owner's signature of Carl Gustaf Brodinn, dated 1770, on blank leaf after part three.
VD16 M 7404. Not in Adams. Worn but charming copy of this very rare Hamburg edition of the German translation of ”Apophtegmata morientium” by Martin Mylius (1542-1611). The Latin edition was published in 1592. It is a collection of short biographies and ”famous last words” of contemporary famous persons, both men and women of all categories.. The engraved portraits depicts Charles V, Hus, Savonarola, Luther, Melanchthon, Erasmus etc. The following parts are: 2, Christlicher Abschiede durchleuchtiger gottfurctiger und erbarer Frawen und Jungfrawen. 3, Christlicher Abschiede, der Theologen und Marterer, zum Theil mit ire lebendigen Bildnüssn in Kupffer gestochen. 4, Christlicher Abschiede, Rittermessiger Personen, auch hochgelarter Philosophi und weltweise Menner.
