Orig. staples. Zurich, Jul. Heuberger for Mouvement Dada, (December 1918).
The third of four issues of „Dada“, a magazine edited by Tristan Tzara and published in Zurich. Following two previous issues in July and December 1917, this third issue appeared twelve months later and begins with Tzara’s three-page “Manifeste Dada 1918.” Additional contributions were written by Giuseppe Raimondi, Pierre Reverdy, Francis Picabia, Pierre Soupault, Camillo Sbarbaro, Pierre Albert-Birot, Paul Dermée, Alberto Savinio, and Vincente Huidobro. Printed in an edition of 2000 copies, the third issue of the journal is distinguished not only by its larger format and the use of newsprint paper but also, in particular, by a much more experimental typography, as indicated by the unconventional typographic design of the title page. The original woodcuts appear more vivid on newsprint than on the art paper used in the previous two issues. – Dada in Zürich, Nr. 89; Dokumentations-Bibl. II, 480. – The magazine has been folded once, which caused some minor damage to the spine around the crease. Some leaves with minor creasing on the edges. Some brownging throughout. Beautiful copy in all.
