First edition, an edition with a different title page showing the Aldine printer’s mark was published at the same time. Pietro Bembo (1470-1547) was named official historian of Venice in 1529. His 12 books on Venitian history cover the years 1487–1513 and include significant events of the period as well, such as Spanish and Portuguese voyages of discovery. – EDIT16 CNCE 81960; Renouard 1834, 17; Brunet I, 767. – Small worm hole on front and rear pastedowns. Some black stains in quire c. Very minor foxing on a few leaves. Very beautiful copy in all.
