The spine is slightly worn and mottled. Occasional foxing and small stains. A pronounced but small brown stain on p. 12 and a few small stains on pp. 117–120. A fine copy.

In this copy, the verso of the title page is blank and pages 3–4 are lacking as published. With a preface in which the author, among other things, laments that parts of his manuscript were plundered in Holland in 1656. The oldest Swedish work on economics which, according to the historian of science Sten Lindroth ”introduced the fundamental ideas of mercantilism into Swedish literature” (our translation). Risingh was working on a large-scale work on the subject, of which only this abridgement was published. The ”Svenskt biografiskt lexikon” (Swedish Biographical Dictionary) writes: ”According to R[isingh], trade consisted of three parts: goods, money, and exchange”, and continues that he ”should be regarded as an early advocate of the cameralist ideas that, from the end of the 17th century and for more than a hundred years, came to dominate economic thought in Germany and Austria. Like the first generation of cameralists, R emphasized the central role of a strong state in developing society, the importance of population growth, and the necessity, for the benefit of society, of regulating and supervising the activities of various groups. R’s interest in agriculture was also shared with the cameralists, as was his emphasis on the importance of putting all able-bodied people to work and educating the young in industriousness” (our translation). After extensive studies at Uppsala University and abroad, Risingh (1616/17–1672) helped establish the Kommerskollegiet (Board of Commerce) and was appointed it’s first secretary in 1651. He travelled to New Sweden in Delaware in 1654 and became the colony’s last governor in 1655. Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie, who had consulted Risingh during the planning of the town of Lidköping, contributed funds toward the publication of ”Itt uthtogh”.
