Landscape elephant folio [51 x 59,5 cm]. Engraved titleleaf + engraved dedication to King Wilhelm of Württemberg + 4 pages of text + 12 plates + 2 pages of text + 6 plates [complete]. Bound with the original blank wrappers with the original typographical wrapper titles of vols. 1-2 tipped on, in a early 20th century half morocco binding with marbled sidepaper. Title field in morocco to the upper board. Slight edgewear and soiling to the boards. A bit of foxing ot the margins of the leaves.
Complete copy of this scarce, very early chalk litographic masterpiece on horses. Large prints of beautiful, full blooded Arabian horses, sometimes set with an exotic background of pyramids etc. See Winkler, Frühzeit der deutschen Lithographie, 180, 57.
