Titleleaf printed in red with a floral woodcut. The main text is surrounded by commentaries in two columns. Bound in a modern full calf binding. The leaves a1-c8 are restored to the lower margins; most well outside the text, but some with a little text loss. Owner's names and notes to the verso of the titleleaf [one dated 1502], partly missing, due to restoration of the paper. A few scattered marginal notes in the 1502 hand. Some browning/dampstaining to the leaves.
French Franciscan scholar Licholas de Lyra [c. 1270-1349] was one of the most influental thinkers in biblical exegesis of the Middle Ages, and made several comments to various parts of the Bible. The editio princeps of this work on exegesis was printed in Rome in 1471. It was the most used scholarly book on the issue, also in the 16th century.
